Reservoirs in the Colorado River Basin are at historic lows after more than twenty years of drought. Despite a wet winter in 2023, drought remains a severe risk in the Colorado River Basin, including for Tribes, farmers, ranchers, cities, and wildlife, and the local economies that rely on dwindling water resources. The Bureau of Reclamation is encouraged to provide robust funding in future budget requests for activities that provide support to conserve water, improve watershed scale planning, upgrade water infrastructure, protect land from erosion, and create long-term resiliency on changing landscapes.
